My Solgar Ester-C 1000 mg Had Swollen Seal and Bad Odor
On March 13, 2025, I purchased Solgar Ester-C 1000 mg Vitamin C, which had an expiration date of July 2027. When I opened the bottle, I immediately noticed that the protective seal was swollen, and when broken, it released pressurized air—just like opening a carbonated drink. This was followed by an extremely strong, unpleasant odor coming from the tablets.
Concerned, I took the product back to the pharmacy where I bought it. They told me the smell was “normal” and warned that if they sent it back to Solgar, the company would likely reject the return because the seal had already been broken. This makes no sense—I’ve been using this exact product for years, and I’ve never encountered anything like this: no foul smell, no puffed-up seal, no burst of air.
This is clearly a quality issue, and it’s disappointing that a well-known brand like Solgar refuses to take accountability. If there’s nothing wrong with the product, why have none of my previous purchases reacted this way?
I request that Solgar accept responsibility, investigate this batch, and issue a full refund in ₺ for the defective product. Consumers should not be left alone when they report abnormal signs in a health product they’ve trusted for years.
