I purchased my 2021 Skoda Octavia 1.0 e-Tec Premium package vehicle brand new from the Bursa Neskar dealership. While the vehicle was still under warranty, on 05/25/2023, it experienced the now well-known and widely reported 48V/12V system failure associated with this engine group. Due to this exact issue, the starter alternator was replaced under warranty at Bursa Neskar authorized service.
However, on 05/02/2026, only three years after the first replacement, my vehicle experienced the exact same failure again, and the car is currently unusable because it no longer starts. Despite the fact that this issue is technically impossible to classify as user error and clearly represents a manufacturing-related hidden defect, Bursa Neskar service is demanding approximately $4,000 from me for parts and labor simply because the vehicle warranty period has expired.
I would like to openly ask Skoda Türkiye and Neskar management the following: How can one of the most critical components of a so-called “Premium” vehicle fail every three years? Was the starter alternator replaced under warranty in 2023 also defective, since it has now failed again in exactly the same way? Across both Türkiye and international automotive forums — including consumer complaint platforms — countless user experiences clearly demonstrate that this issue in 1.0 e-Tec engines has become a chronic and systemic defect. If this problem is so widespread and well known, why is the financial burden being placed entirely on customers?
During my phone conversations with Neskar and Skoda Türkiye representatives, I was informed that I must personally pay approximately $4,000 for the replacement and labor costs. I demand that this repeated starter alternator failure, caused by a chronic manufacturing defect, be fully covered free of charge under customer satisfaction and goodwill support policies. Otherwise, I will pursue all my legal rights through the Consumer Arbitration Committee and other legal authorities.
