Sephora Employee Refused Tester Despite Providing Them to Others
Yesterday, while shopping at the Sephora store in Marmara Park between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, I experienced a very uncomfortable situation at the checkout.
While I was at the register completing my payment, there was a female customer of foreign nationality standing next to me. The cashier went inside the store specifically for her and brought out several tester products. When I saw this, I politely asked the cashier assisting me if I could also receive a tester, since I know that normally testers are often given to customers without even having to ask.
The cashier responded in a tone suggesting “Of course, I was already going to give you one,” but then simply opened the drawer in front of him and said that there were no testers left. I pointed out that he had just given testers moments earlier, but despite this, the employee made no effort to bring any testers for me.
Even though we were standing there at the same time, the attention shown to the other customer was not shown to me. The situation made me feel undervalued and discriminated against, especially because it created the impression that preferential treatment was being given to a foreign customer.
I request that the testers that were not provided to me yesterday be sent to me, and that the employee involved be reminded about customer satisfaction and the importance of treating all customers equally.
Dear customer, we are pleased to assist you with any needs or concerns regarding your requests. Our customer service team has contacted you regarding the matter. We also thank you for your interest and understanding.
I was not contacted.
My grievance was not resolved in any way. In fact, the next day we went back to the same store to look at perfume for my boyfriend. I asked for several perfumes for myself, and none of the ones I inquired about had a tester; an employee unabashedly said “smell it from the bottle” and handed me the bottle. When I asked about another perfume, another employee said there are no testers and you can’t even smell it from the bottle anymore. They don’t provide testers; when you want to try one, they say it’s not available, it’s a service area.
I requested a tester at the Sephora store checkout, but I was not given any tester and the staff gave a privilege to another customer. Afterwards, they sent an email stating that my issue could not be resolved and that no action could be taken. I am not satisfied with this situation.
