Revolut's Improper Services Creating Troubles And Inconveniences

In 2018, Revolut verified my account in Greece with my residence permit, a Type C visa. After using the account for years without any verification problem, in August 2026 they suddenly refused to accept the same Type C visa for a new round of identity checks and started demanding a Type D visa instead. This is an impossible and unacceptable request for me, because I cannot obtain this different visa type they are now insisting on. Revolut has given me six months to provide this Type D visa and is effectively threatening that if I cannot provide it, my account and access to my funds will be at risk. They keep changing the ID type requirements and do not respect the document they themselves accepted in 2018. This arbitrary change creates serious insecurity and has already caused me repeated financial harm and stress. I see this as inconsistent, unreliable behaviour and contrary to basic principles of fair treatment of customers. During this period I have been in contact with Revolut’s customer representatives, but their responses have been inadequate and have not solved the problem. They continue to insist on the new visa type instead of offering a realistic, lawful and customer‑friendly solution. I also see many negative reviews online about Revolut’s poor service quality, higher fees and similar issues, which confirms that my experience is not isolated. I request that Revolut immediately stop forcing me to obtain a new visa type that I cannot get, and that they continue to recognise and accept my existing Type C residence visa, which they already used to verify my account in 2018. I also expect them to ensure that my account remains fully usable without further arbitrary ID changes and to take responsibility for the financial and emotional damage caused by this process.

I chose your bank in 2018 precisely because you successfully adhere to these regulations and because of the bank's reputation for reliability. Since then, you have successfully verified my identity using my Greek Residence Visa (Type C)—including periodic re-verifications—allowing me to utilize your services without issue up until October 9, 2026. During the period between 2018 and 2026, I also opened bank accounts in Greece using that s e Greek Residence Visa (Type C) ID; I continue to use these accounts today. The law is universal, so I ask you this: Can the law be applied retroactively? It applies only to the present and the future. Therefore, while you certainly have the right to update your regulations, you cannot apply them retroactively; you cannot infringe upon previously acquired rights. Just as it is natural to update your regulations, it is equally natural—and legally sound—to apply these updates to new customers joining in the future. Now, consider the six Greek banks I mentioned earlier: how legally justifiable would it be for them to apply their updated policies retroactively? And what bank would actually want to do that? If that happens, chaos will ensue; accounts will be closed, customers will turn away from banks, and universal legal principles will be undermined. Moreover, you updated your regulations today and applied them retroactively, thereby violating legal norms. What guarantee is there that you won't update regulations again tomorrow in a different way and apply them retroactively? In other words, what guarantee is there that you won't repeatedly issue retroactive updates that drive customers away from the bank or put their funds at risk (since retroactive regulatory updates jeopardize customers' assets and funds held at your bank)? You may require further information to verify my identity; it is understood that this requirement stems from the regulations to which you are subject. I have been providing this information to you since 2018, and your bank has approved it as a "Greek residence visa type C" since that time; this information remains valid. There has been—and will be—no change to the identification document I use for legal residence in Greece. This ID card is valid as a "Greek residence visa type C" (a long-term residence identification document valid from August 6, 2026, through December 2029).

You may require an additional document to confirm my country of residence; that document is my "Greek residence visa type C." It has remained unchanged since 2018 and will not change in the future. I have never held—nor will I hold in the future—any other identification document for Greece. This document was first issued by Greek authorities in 2018; it remains valid (until December 2029), is legal, and has been in lawful use since 2018. For the reasons stated above, I wish to reiterate clearly and unequivocally: I m residing legally—and will continue to reside—in Greece using the Greek Residence Visa (Type C) issued by Greek authorities in 2018. This document will not change; it was first issued in 2018 and is valid until 2029. I do not possess, nor will I possess in the future, any other form of identification, visa, or status.
