In July 2018, I purchased a Regal 40R6020F LED TV, serial number 7993616 800 181. After 3–4 years, thin vertical lines began appearing on the screen. As the issue worsened, I requested a paid repair since the warranty had expired. Vestel authorized service center inspected the TV and reported that the motherboard needed replacement. However, I declined the repair due to the high cost and only paid the service fee. On December 15, 2024, I came across a news article detailing a similar issue, citing a case where the Istanbul Anatolian 6th Consumer Court ruled that, under the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, the lifespan of a TV is determined to be 10 years, and the product was replaced with a defect-free equivalent. I contacted Regal Customer Services via WhatsApp to report the issue. Their representative stated that the warranty had expired, a repair fee would be determined after inspection, and a ₺400 diagnosis fee was required. When I mentioned the TV’s 10-year lifespan, I was told, "The part retention period is 10 years; the product warranty is 3 years." I informed them I would not proceed with the service and would pursue my legal rights. Based on Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, which establishes a 10-year lifespan, I request the replacement of my TV with a defect-free equivalent to resolve the product issue.
