Peugeot Refused Warranty Coverage for Wet Timing Belt on 2023 2008
On January 30, 2026, I applied to the İzmir Novamer Peugeot authorized service center to request the free replacement of the wet timing belt (trigel belt) and related parts under warranty for my 2023 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech Allure gasoline SUV. However, the authorized service refused to perform this work under warranty, claiming that the vehicle was out of warranty. The service center cited the fact that the 30,000 km maintenance had been performed outside the authorized Peugeot network as the reason. However, the previous owner of the vehicle had the 30,000 km maintenance performed in May 2025 at a Bosch Car Service, and there is a valid invoice clearly showing which parts were replaced during that service. The vehicle currently has 40,300 km and has undergone regular, documented maintenance. Despite all this, I do not accept that the wet timing belt and related parts are being excluded from warranty coverage on a vehicle whose warranty is still valid, with the cost being unfairly passed on to the customer. Moreover, authorized service staff stated that the vehicle is “problematic” and even advised me to replace it. If Peugeot’s own personnel consider a vehicle they sell to be problematic, then the brand should either recall the vehicle from the market or take responsibility for resolving its chronic issues and costs itself. Even though I submitted my complaint through your official website, I received no response. I request that the validity of my vehicle’s current warranty be acknowledged and that the wet timing belt and related parts be replaced at the authorized service center under warranty, with no cost charged to me. I also wanted to purchase an extended warranty, but I was told it would be pointless. Additionally, the fees requested for the same procedures vary significantly between authorized services, and there are differences of 50% or more compared to other TSE-approved service centers using the same materials. I respectfully request that Peugeot prevent authorized services from causing customer grievances while directing users to these service centers.
I spoke with the Boschcar service that performed the maintenance. They sent the detailed maintenance/km information, details of the replaced parts, and the TSE certificate.
