Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid Failed After 11,000 km and I’ve Been Waiting for a Replacement
My 2024 Peugeot 3008 GT 1.2 Hybrid 136 e-DSC6, which has only 11,000 km on it, experienced an engine failure on 18.10.2024 while driving on a straight road. The vehicle was towed to Turkey's Kayseri İnciroğlu authorized service center. Throughout the process, I had to actively chase updates about my vehicle, as I was never contacted by the service center. Finally, on 22.10.2024, I was informed that the vehicle's eccentric part was defective, and the case had been sent to Peugeot’s Istanbul headquarters and then to the engineers in France for further evaluation.
Despite the clear indication that this process would take a long time, I was told that a replacement vehicle, which I had requested, could only be provided once the engineers in France decided on the appropriate repair method. I paid €54,000 for this vehicle, and since 18.10.2024, I have been without a car, with no clear timeline for when I will get a replacement. While I have no issues with the fact that the vehicle malfunctioned, the customer service provided has been extremely poor. It's not about the car, but the Peugeot brand’s inability to handle customer service well.
I no longer recommend anyone buy a new Peugeot, even if it comes with a warranty. I’ve now been waiting a week for the decision of the engineers in France just to get a replacement vehicle. I regret buying a Peugeot and wish I had listened to my close circle, who advised me to go for another brand—at least then, I wouldn’t be treated like a third-class citizen. I wonder if Peugeot treats its European customers the same way. I will pursue my rights through legal means in the next steps.
Based on what I learned today (25.10.2024), the issue with my car is something that the service center in Kayseri has not encountered before. Because of this, they don't know what to do, and the technical team has been consulted about what action to take regarding the issue, but there has been no response from the team. It has been exactly 8 days since I handed over my car, and I still have to manage with a rental car. The large company Peugeot cannot provide a single replacement vehicle! It is unclear how long the process will take, but it is obvious that it will not be short. We are waiting for the technical team to respond to be able to get a replacement vehicle. I will definitely return my car, but the dealership I bought it from says that the issue needs to be resolved first, and they cannot accept the return before the process is completed. This means my daily car rental expense of 1700 TL, with no end in sight, will continue. In short, buying a Peugeot was really a big mistake. If only when I handed over the car, they had said, "We apologize, we will fix the issue as soon as possible, and in the meantime, let us provide you with a vehicle so you are not inconvenienced," there would be no problem. It's a shame that I cannot receive the service that should be provided without request, even though I have requested it!
