PDF Guru Turned a $1 One-Time Payment Into a $43 Monthly Charge
In February, I made a one-time payment of approximately $1 USD on the website PDF Guru to convert a document, believing it was a single-use purchase. However, I later realized that approximately $43 USD was being charged to my card every month on the grounds that I had not canceled a membership. I believe this system takes advantage of users’ busyness and inattention and causes consumer harm.
The payments were charged to my QNB Miles&Smiles credit card. As soon as I noticed the issue, I contacted my bank to request a transaction reversal and the cancellation of my card. I also contacted PDF Guru, but I was told that no refund would be issued.
I absolutely do not accept that after what appeared to be a $1 USD one-time transaction, PDF Guru began charging $43 USD per month without my knowledge or consent. I demand that all unfairly charged amounts be fully refunded to me and that these subscription systems causing consumer harm be immediately regulated.
