Oysho Employees Humiliated Me at the Store
On October 31, 2026, between approximately 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, I had a very upsetting experience at the Oysho store in Maltepe Piazza Shopping Mall in Istanbul. I entered the fitting room to try on three items, specifically a pair of leggings, a top, and a sports bra. While I was in the fitting room, I overheard three employees standing near the checkout area making mocking and disrespectful comments about my appearance and personal style. Among the comments I clearly heard were statements along the lines of “She looks so tacky” “She dyed her own hair” “She’s ugly” and “She actually came here to buy something.” They were speaking to each other in a belittling and mocking manner. At that time, I was the only customer trying on clothes in the store, so it was very clear to me that these comments were directed at me. I heard them clearly and felt extremely humiliated, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. I had gone into the store intending to purchase all three items and to spend approximately ₺5,000 but because of the employees’ disrespectful and highly unprofessional behavior, I decided not to complete my purchase. Rather than confronting the employees and creating an argument, I left the items I was trying on in the fitting room and quietly left the store, feeling deeply upset. Afterwards, I submitted a written complaint about this incident through my account, including the date, approximate time, store location, and a description of what happened, but I have not yet received any response or feedback. I find it completely unacceptable for employees representing a global brand such as Oysho to mock, judge, or belittle customers based on their appearance or personal style. No customer should ever be made to feel humiliated, unwelcome, or uncomfortable while shopping. Such behavior is not only deeply disrespectful but also seriously undermines a customer's trust in the brand. I therefore formally request that Oysho investigate the incident that took place at its Maltepe Piazza store in Istanbul on October 31, 2026, between approximately 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. I kindly ask that the employees who were working during the specified time period be identified and that the circumstances of the incident be properly reviewed. I also expect appropriate action to be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Furthermore, I believe it is important that the staff be reminded of their responsibility to treat every customer with professionalism, dignity, and respect, regardless of their appearance or personal style. Necessary measures should also be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. I kindly request written confirmation that my complaint has been formally reviewed, along with information regarding the outcome of the investigation and any appropriate actions or measures taken in response. I trust that Oysho will take this matter seriously and handle it in accordance with the standards expected from an international brand.
