Although my 2022 model Opel Grandland, purchased brand new from an Istanbul dealership and first registered in 2023, has only 35,000 kilometers on it, the engine has started making loud noises, knocking, and scraping sounds. When I took the vehicle to the Mersin Mezitli service center for routine annual maintenance, I was told that there were no issues. However, after the maintenance, the noises continued, so I reported my concerns again and requested that the vehicle be re-examined. After further inspection, I was informed that the camshaft chain and timing belt need to be replaced.
Since this diagnosis, I have been waiting for the required parts for approximately two weeks, and I would also like to note that the problem itself has been ongoing for more than one month. When I contact the service center, I am told that there is no clear timeline for when the parts will arrive, that these parts are referred to as “campaign parts,” and that because they are shipped in bulk, delivery can sometimes take one month or even three to five months. It was also clearly stated that individual cases are not handled separately. Despite this being the third brand-new vehicle I have purchased from the PSA Group, this experience has been extremely disappointing for me.
It is unacceptable for a vehicle with such low mileage to develop a serious engine-related issue, and it is equally unacceptable to be given such uncertain and excessively long timeframes for part availability. I request that this malfunction be resolved promptly under warranty, that the necessary parts be supplied as soon as possible so that my vehicle can be returned to safe and trouble-free use, and that I be provided with a clear and written explanation regarding the inconvenience I have experienced during this process.
