I Booked Marriott İzmir for a Bachelorette but Was Blocked from Bar and Spa Access

On March 2, 2024, my three girlfriends and I booked a room at the Marriott İzmir for a very special occasion—our friend’s bachelorette celebration. We specifically chose this hotel because of its beautiful rooftop bar and poolside atmosphere, where we planned to relax, sip cocktails, and enjoy the stunning views. Before booking, we asked multiple times if the bar would be open and even called the day before to confirm. We were clearly told that everything would be available for our use.

However, things quickly fell apart once we arrived. During the day, we planned to unwind in the spa, but we were suddenly told there was a private event and we could not enter. Later that evening, we dressed up for the rooftop bar, only to find out it was closed due to a wedding. This was never mentioned to us in any of our conversations with hotel staff.

We ended up paying a premium price just for a basic hotel room—our entire plan for the day was ruined. The hotel failed to inform us about major space closures that directly affected our experience. For such a reputable brand, this kind of poor communication is unacceptable. When parts of a hotel are privately booked for events, guests must be notified in advance so they can make informed decisions.

Marriott İzmir, your lack of transparency ruined an important celebration for us. We’re extremely disappointed and expect a proper response and compensation for the disruption you caused on what was supposed to be a memorable day.
