Mapfre Health Insurance Suddenly Denied My Joint Pain Treatment
I use Mapfre supplemental health insurance. I had previously received treatment several times for joint pain complaints. I underwent MRIs and attended two or three medical examinations related to this condition. My insurance policy started on 09/23/2025.
However, in April 2026, Mapfre apparently conducted another review on their own and decided to place an exclusion/restriction related to joint pain coverage. The problem is that they never informed me about this change. I only found out when I went to the hospital for another appointment.
Because of this unexpected restriction, I was forced to pay approximately $64 out of pocket for the examination fee.
When I filed complaints and requested explanations, I kept receiving different and conflicting answers. First, I was told that a general restriction had been added for joint pain conditions. Later, when I continued following up, they claimed that I had already been informed about the restriction. After I continued objecting, they then said these were restrictions related to my previous illnesses. In the end, however, they again stated that a general restriction had been placed on joint-related conditions overall.
Honestly, I do not know how I ended up dealing with such an incompetent and unprofessional company. I made the mistake of trusting them, but I strongly warn others not to fall into the same situation.
At this point, I have absolutely no confidence that this company will properly resolve the issue. I am sharing this complaint mainly so that other people do not experience the same financial and emotional frustration that I went through.
