MAC’s advice emphasises hydration first: under-eye skin should be moisturised (ideally with a lightweight eye cream) before applying concealer, since dry lines and creases often come from dehydration.
MAC’s “How To Apply Concealer For Beginners” guide recommends using Prep + Prime Fix + after moisturiser and pressing concealer in (not dragging) with a damp sponge or finger.
Choosing the right formula makes a big difference: MAC suggests Pro Longwear Concealer for oily lids because of its more matte structure, while lighter finishes like Studio Radiance 24HR Luminous Lift work better if your skin is dryer.
For setting, MAC’s artists recommend using a finely-milled, translucent or invisible finishing powder—applied sparingly only in creasing zones, then pressing (not brushing) to lock concealer in.
