La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid Gave Me Breakouts After Unannounced Formula Change
I’ve been using La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid moisturizer for years and had full trust in the product. A while back, they updated the formula with the new packaging, and my skin actually responded well to that change. But now, without any warning or mention from the brand, the formula has clearly been altered again—and this time, it severely irritated my skin.
After just one use, my face broke out in inflamed acne and redness. I’ve never had acne problems before, so I immediately suspected the product and checked the ingredients. That’s when I saw the new additions: corn starch (known to clog pores), Shigella sonnei ferment extract, and Salvia miltiorrhiza root extract—all of which can trigger acne or allergic reactions. Even applying a tiny amount around my eyes caused breakouts. After I stopped using the product, all symptoms disappeared.
I reached out to La Roche-Posay to explain what happened and asked for a refund. I only used the product three times. Shockingly, they told me to go to a doctor and get a medical report confirming the acne was caused by their product. Are they going to pay for the doctor visit or travel costs?
