Hotpads Listed a Fake Rental Property and Asked for My Personal Information

Using www.hotpads.com was a horrible experience. Though it turned out to be totally bogus, I came into a listing that appeared interesting. Although the outside of the house was faithfully authentic, everything else was created. Before I could see the property, the so-called landlord even requested my personal information and government ID. Fortunately, I chose to look into it more and finally spoke with the real owner, unaware their house was on the market. Since then, I have reported the bogus listing; nonetheless, I find it shocking that www.hotpads.com let such a hoax to be placed. This encounter made me doubt the security of the site and I would not use it once more.
