I own a 2013 Honda Civic hatchback, license plate 07 *** 706, chassis number SHHFK37*127**, in Orchid White Pearl color. At approximately 213,000 kilometers, my vehicle began experiencing severe paint peeling and flaking, especially on the roof area, as well as in several other places. This damage occurred without any external impact, accident, collision, or chemical exposure.
Based on my research, I learned that this paint issue is a globally recognized and well-known chronic manufacturing defect affecting white Honda Civic models produced between 2012 and 2015, particularly related to a defective primer layer. For this reason, I believe the paint defect on my vehicle qualifies as a “hidden defect” under Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection. Regardless of the vehicle’s age, paint coating that peels off in layers over large surface areas cannot reasonably be explained as user error.
If this chronic paint defect is not remedied, my vehicle will suffer a significant loss in value. Although I am aware that Honda has implemented measures such as recalls or extended warranty programs for this issue in other countries, the lack of any support for my own vehicle has left me feeling both financially harmed and disappointed, and it has seriously damaged my trust in the brand.
I am requesting that this chronic paint defect be evaluated under goodwill warranty or hidden defect coverage, and that—with the knowledge and approval of Honda Turkey—the issue be resolved free of charge at an authorized service center through full repainting. I also request that the process be reviewed transparently and that I be provided with written information regarding the resolution of my grievance.
