Home Depot Requires Social Security Number to Check Store Credit

I received an in‑store credit from the Home Depot Roseville, Michigan store on 10/27/2026 for home improvement supplies, but I have not been able to check the balance on this in‑store credit. When I try to check the balance online or by phone, I am asked to provide either an account number or my 9‑digit Social Security number. I do not find it appropriate or safe to share my Social Security number just to learn the balance of an in‑store credit, and there is no clear alternative method offered to access this information. I request that you help me access and use the full balance of my in‑store credit without having to provide my Social Security number, and that you clearly explain a secure way for me to verify and use this credit.
