Gemini Paid Membership Still Leaves Watermarks on Images and Videos
I signed up for a Google Plus membership on the Gemini app today, May 17, 2026. By taking out the paid membership, I agreed to pay $1 initially, and then $6 for subsequent months. Despite being a paying member, the watermarks on the images and videos I create aren't being removed at all. Having the watermarks remain even with a paid membership is both frustrating and makes the content look unprofessional when I use it on social media. On many other image and video platforms I've used before, removing the watermark with a paid membership was standard practice, so the fact that Gemini doesn't clearly state this upfront was a huge disappointment. I don't feel like I'm getting any real advantage from the membership at all. What I want isn't a refund — I want users to either be clearly and visibly informed about this upfront, or for the watermarks to be fully removed for paid members. I don't think a paid membership that keeps watermarks will be appealing, especially compared to other platforms (like my ChatGPT subscription, for example), where there isn't a single watermark on images at all. If this doesn't change, I'm planning to cancel my membership next month. I'm requesting transparent disclosure on this issue and a change made in favor of users.
