Ford Focus Exhaust Filter Warning and Oil Change Issue Frustrates Owners

On March 21, 2025, I purchased a 2024 Ford Focus Active (Style package) from İzmir Otokoç. Since the day I bought the vehicle, I have continuously received a warning that says, “Exhaust filter full, continue driving.” Although the warning disappears after driving for a while, it keeps coming back again later. This has become very frustrating and causes constant anxiety while driving.

When the vehicle reached 6,000 km (about 3,700 miles), I received another warning stating, “Change engine oil immediately.” I then took the car to the İzmir Otokoç service center and had the oil changed. During that visit, I reported both the exhaust filter warning and the early oil change warning, but my concerns were dismissed with general and superficial responses.

Now my vehicle has reached 9,300 km (about 5,800 miles), and I am once again receiving the “change engine oil immediately” warning. In other words, this issue repeats at very short intervals and creates a serious inconvenience for the user.

I believe that this recurring exhaust filter issue—especially during city driving—and the frequent need for oil changes are not caused by user error, but rather indicate a serious manufacturing or software defect. This problem should be properly diagnosed and addressed by Ford through a recall program. Existing customer grievances should be resolved, and other consumers using the same model should also be protected.

During this process, I paid approximately $220 for engine oil changes and related services. These constantly recurring warnings are causing both financial loss and safety concerns.

I expect Ford to take this issue seriously instead of ignoring it, conduct a thorough technical investigation, provide a proper solution, and review the expenses incurred by users in order to compensate for their losses.

I also call on the relevant authorities, especially government agencies, to take this complaint into consideration and to listen to both my concerns and those of other drivers using the same vehicle model.

Dear Sir/Madam, this is nonsense in every complaint, please do not repeat this answer. When selling these vehicles to your customers, these features were not disclosed. I am not required to drive an out-of-town vehicle. Clearly, you have made these vehicles to exploit your customers. Either you remedy my grievance, or we will settle it in court. I am following on social media; there are countless people besides me who are also aggrieved. We will organize via social media and file a class-action consumer lawsuit.

I keep getting exhaust filter and engine oil warnings in the car, and the problem persists despite my service visits. I reported my complaint to Ford, but the company hasn't taken any action yet and has avoided making a call. This situation makes me feel extremely bad, and I am demanding compensation for damages.
