Ford Focus Chronic Engine and Turbo Failures

I have experienced serious breakdowns in my 2016 Ford Focus over the last 1.5 years. When it had only 77,000 km the engine and turbo were completely replaced because the oil pump belt became dislodged; although a discount was applied, I spent almost as much as the price of a second-hand car. Four months ago I paid ₺45,000 for an oil change and the replacement of several parts, and this year I paid about ₺35,000 for replacement of heating pipes and other parts after a vacation. After all these procedures my vehicle broke down again on August 19 and was towed to Ford Evlüce Authorized Service, where I was told the vehicle had overheated and therefore failed. Although I have spent a total of approximately ₺350,000 in 1.5 years, Ford Otosan offered no discount or support, claiming inadequate maintenance; despite the engine and turbo being under warranty, the problems are constant and my grievances are always dismissed as “user error.” In my research I found that similar chronic issues occur in other vehicles of the same model. During this period I was effectively living between Ford Evlüce Authorized Service and Aydın Zafer Oto, and I contacted customer service but received no positive response. Despite spending so much on the vehicle, I can neither sell it nor use it with peace of mind, and I request a refund or support.

I have had to go to the service repeatedly due to serious engine problems with my 2016 model Ford Focus. The car's oil pump and related engine failures match exactly the issues listed in Ford's recall bulletin code "23s64" published in the United States. Therefore, I believe the problems I am experiencing stem from a chronic manufacturing defect, not user error. My problems started in 2023 with brake hardening. It was later understood that this brake hardening issue actually originated from insufficient lubrication in the system and the vacuum pump feed. However, the authorized service failed to establish this connection in time, postponed the problem with temporary fixes, and unnecessarily prolonged the process. At just 77,000 km, the engine was replaced due to an oil pump failure. Yet the newly installed engine became unusable again after only 25,000 km, this time because of cooling system and mechanical faults (broken bolt, thermostat problems, etc.). During this period I took my car to Çorum Evlüce Service and Aydın Zafer Oto. In both workshops, abnormalities on the temperature gauge were brushed off as "normal," risky parts like the engine mount were delayed for replacement, many faults that should have been covered under warranty were ignored, and I was constantly offered paid repairs. With inflation taken into account, I faced a total cost of roughly ₺1,000,000. It is unreasonable for a vehicle at 102,000 km, which had already had its engine replaced at 77,000 km, to suffer such heavy engine and cooling system failures again and have the user bear the burden. In my conversations with Ford customer service, they only expressed regret, offering no concrete solution or lasting technical investigation. Throughout this entire ordeal I have been stranded on the road multiple times, suffered severe financial losses, and been emotionally exhausted. Due to these chronic defects and service negligence, I demand a refund of the high service fees and expenses I have paid so far, the replacement of my vehicle with a new one considering the manufacturing defects, and full compensation for my hardship. Otherwise, I reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings.

I was victimized as a consumer due to the car’s chronic problems, and no response was ever provided. In the end, we ended up in a lawsuit with Ford.
