On July 12, 2025, the same day I purchased Durex Nude condoms, I experienced a serious issue when the condom tore during use, which caused significant distress. This situation was not limited to the cost of the product itself; my partner was forced to take an emergency contraceptive pill. This process created both health risks and financial burden. Additionally, due to safety concerns, I was unable to use the remaining 15 condoms in the package.
The company initially offered a $16 voucher, followed later by a $40 voucher regarding the issue I experienced. However, considering the scope and severity of the harm, I did not find this offer sufficient.
The company listed possible reasons for the condom tearing, such as fingernails, rings, air trapped inside, incorrect sizing, or lubricant use. However, I have been using different brands for a long time and have never experienced a similar problem before. For this reason, I do not find these explanations convincing.
In addition, the company’s own laboratory tests concluding that there was “no issue” do not account for real-life usage conditions and variables. Therefore, even if standard tests show the product as intact, that does not guarantee there will be no problems in actual use.
My personal experience refutes the claim of “user error”: under the same conditions, I had no issues with other brands, while this problem occurred only with this specific product series.
The purpose of this statement is not to damage the brand, but to transparently share my real experience and the consumer rights process. Within the scope of Law No. 6502 on the Protection of Consumers, I will pursue formal legal channels.
