Duolingo Charged Me Without Clear Consent After a Free Trial
I am experiencing serious financial hardship because I was charged for a Super Duolingo English subscription without my knowledge or explicit consent. While using the app, I did not see any clear, prominent, or understandable information stating that I would automatically be enrolled in a paid subscription after the seven-day trial. Despite this, I later noticed in my bank transactions that 1,209.99 was charged to my card through Apple on September 11.
I am already going through a financially difficult period, so having this amount taken from my account without my knowledge is both upsetting and unacceptable. Charging such a significant amount without clearly informing the user and obtaining explicit, unambiguous consent is a practice that can cause serious harm to users. During this process, neither Duolingo nor Apple provided me with an adequate or clear warning.
I request the immediate cancellation and full refund of the 1,209.99 charged without my knowledge or consent. I also request that the necessary measures be taken to prevent similar situations from affecting other users.
