Duolingo Charged Me $20 Without Consent After Free Trial

I only used the free trial version of the Duolingo app on my Android phone and did not give my consent to start any paid subscription. Despite this, a subscription was started without my knowledge or authorization, and I was charged an annual fee of $20 on my credit card at 8:49 PM on September 18, 2026.

I have been negatively affected by this charge because the amount was taken from my card without any notification, warning, or clear confirmation screen. So far, I have been unable to contact Google or Duolingo through live support or a call center, so I have not been able to obtain a refund or cancel the subscription.

I request that the subscription started without my knowledge be canceled immediately and that the full $20 charged to my credit card be refunded. I also request that the information and confirmation steps for subscriptions and free trials be made more transparent and easier to understand to prevent similar situations from happening again.
