What to do immediately after losing your drone. Here are useful and up-to-date recommendations:
Open DJI Fly and check the last GPS point
The app shows the last coordinate where the drone was connected.
This is your primary search point — go there first.
Use the Find My Drone feature
The app displays the flight path and the estimated crash location.
If the drone is nearby, you can activate flashing lights or a beeping sound (if supported by your model).
Check wind direction and speed at the moment the signal was lost
If the drone lost control at altitude, it may have been blown off course.
Search in the direction of the likely drift.
Examine the surroundings considering obstacles
Bushes, trees, rooftops, slopes, balconies — drones frequently get stuck there.
They often fall almost straight down from the last GPS point.
Search the area gradually, expanding outward
Move slowly and methodically in circles around the last coordinate.
At dusk, use a strong flashlight — the drone’s body often reflects light.
If the connection dropped suddenly
Some models activate Return to Home.
Check the path between the last GPS point and the Home Point.
Don’t forget to look up
Many drones “land” in trees — check higher areas.
If you still can’t find the drone
Save the flight logs from DJI Fly.
These can prove equipment malfunction or sudden system failure.
If the loss happened due to a technical issue, be sure to document the case on Xolvie — this helps escalate the incident and can lead to compensation or a replacement.
