Trouble Sending Decathlon Defective Shorts Back Because of Barcode Cut

I purchased a pair of shorts from Decathlon, which turned out to be defective, as shown in the photos. When I went to the store to return them, the cashier initially agreed to process the return for a manufacturing defect. However, they later informed me that because I had cut the barcode, they could not process a return or exchange. I asked how I was supposed to use the product without cutting the barcode, but they were unable to assist me. They even suggested that I could file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board. I frequently shop at Decathlon and generally like the brand, but their handling of this issue has been disappointing.
Hello, You have been informed via email. Thank you for your understanding, We wish you healthy and active days!
The email received is not solution-oriented, as I am complaining that a return or exchange cannot be made because I cut the product's barcode. You send an email stating that the product damage could not be assessed under warranty following the product inspection. Who inspected the product and who made this decision? The store official said that if I hadn't cut the barcode, a return or exchange would have been made anyway. This is nonsense. Anyway, it's clear that we won't get a result from here. Writing to the Consumer Arbitration Committee is the best course of action.
