Columbia T-Shirt Quality Complaint

I bought a t-shirt from Columbia. Just after a year, despite wearing it only a few times, it started fraying everywhere with significant shape distortion and stitching defects. The Columbia store at Westpark informed me that since the warranty period had expired, they couldn't inspect the product. It was a hassle to find my receipt, but eventually, they did. Shouldn't I trust its quality after paying so much? We don't earn money easily either.
