Budget Charged My Credit Card an Extra €400 for a Car Rental
On June 29, 2026, I rented an automatic Renault Captur from the Budget office in Podgorica and paid the rental fee with my credit card that same day. Despite having already paid, my card was charged again on August 4, 2026, under the explanation that a “preauthorization” was being processed. As a result, approximately €400 in additional funds were blocked or charged, creating an excess hold or duplicate charge.
Furthermore, although I had reserved an automatic transmission vehicle, I was given a manual transmission car. Despite this mistake, Budget offered neither a price adjustment nor any other compensation. Both my proof of payment and my rental agreement clearly document these issues.
I request that Budget investigate all of these transactions, refund the approximately €400 that was additionally charged or has not been released, in full, and provide appropriate compensation for the inconvenience caused by supplying a vehicle that did not match my reservation.
