Why doesn’t my ASUS laptop detect Wi-Fi networks or keep losing the connection?

Wi-Fi issues on ASUS laptops are quite common and can be related to both software settings and hardware.

Start with the basics: make sure the wireless module is enabled. On ASUS laptops, Wi-Fi is often toggled using the Fn + F2 key combination or another function key, depending on the model.

Next, check your Windows settings. In Network & Internet, make sure Airplane mode is turned off and the Wi-Fi adapter is enabled. Restart both the router and the laptop—this resolves many temporary issues.

If the laptop can see other networks but not yours, try changing the Wi-Fi channel and frequency on the router (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz have different range and stability characteristics). Also make sure MAC address filtering is not enabled in the router settings.

For frequent disconnections, update the Wi-Fi adapter driver via Device Manager or from the official ASUS website. In some cases, uninstalling the adapter and letting Windows reinstall it automatically after a reboot helps.

The issue may also be related to power saving. In the adapter’s properties, disable the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” This prevents the Wi-Fi from disconnecting on its own.

If the network still keeps dropping after all these steps, the Wi-Fi module or antennas may be faulty, in which case professional diagnostics are required.

Following this sequence of steps helps restore a stable connection and avoid repeated Wi-Fi dropouts.
