Amazon Account Closed After Failed Identity And Payment Verification
For about 15 days, since around 20 September 2026, I have been unable to properly use my Amazon.com account due to problems with identity and payment method verification, which ultimately led to my account being closed as “suspicious activity”. After my payment method was flagged, Amazon requested identity verification. I promptly submitted clear photos of the front and back of my Turkish national ID card and completed the requested selfie/live identity verification. Despite this, my identity verification was rejected very quickly and no specific explanation was provided. I am seriously concerned that my Turkish-issued identification may not have been meaningfully reviewed by a qualified person, because my Turkish national ID was clear, valid, and verifiable yet it was rejected almost immediately. Amazon then requested proof related to my payment method. The credit card I was using is an authorized supplementary card issued in my own name, and I clearly explained this to Amazon. I submitted a photo of my card together with the billing statement of the primary card account to which it is linked. These banking documents were also clear, valid, and verifiable, yet this submission was again rejected without a clear reason. I therefore ask Amazon to clarify whether documents issued in Türkiye, the type of identification I provided, or the country in which my payment method was issued affected the automated risk assessment or caused my documents to be rejected without proper manual review by a qualified person. Over the following approximately 15 days, I contacted Amazon customer service many times. I was repeatedly told that the issue would be resolved the same day. At one point, a representative even suggested placing a “suspicious activity” alert on my account to speed up the review. Relying on this advice, I agreed. After that, the situation became worse and my account was classified as suspicious activity and completely closed, as also reflected in the email I received from Amazon. During this period I organized parts of my U.S. travel, transfers, delivery arrangements, and purchasing plans based on Amazon’s repeated assurances that the issue would be resolved, which led to additional expense, lost time, and significant disruption when those assurances were not fulfilled. With this complaint, I expect Amazon to have my case manually reviewed by a qualified senior team, to properly evaluate the Turkish identity and payment documents I submitted, and to clearly explain why they were rejected. I also request that Amazon investigate whether the “suspicious activity” flag, which was added based on customer service advice, contributed to the closure of my account and whether their processes properly and fairly handle documents issued in Türkiye. If there is no actual fraud or unauthorized activity on my account, I want my Amazon.com account to be reopened and fully restored. If Amazon decides not to reopen it, I expect a clear, specific, and written explanation of the exact reason for this decision. In addition, I expect Amazon to acknowledge the unnecessary time, expense, and disruption caused by the repeated assurances that the issue would be resolved but never was.
