Alfa Romeo Tonale Veloce Repeated Breakdown and Gear Shift Failure
I purchased my 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale Veloce on November 19, 2024. Although the vehicle has only 25,000 km on it and has been in use for about 1.5 years, I have been stranded three times due to the same recurring issue. The first failure occurred on February 10, 2025, the second on October 31, 2025 (just 5 days after routine maintenance at an authorized service center), and the most recent on March 12, 2026.
Each time, the vehicle displays the warning “Gear shifter becomes inactive after engine shutdown” and completely locks itself, making it impossible to move the gear lever. As a result, I am left stranded and the car must be transported to the service center by tow truck every time.
After the most recent breakdown, the vehicle has been sitting at Alfa Romeo Ankara Oto Çayyolu authorized service for nearly one month, and I have been informed that it will need to remain there for at least another month. Due to this serious and recurring defect, my confidence in the vehicle’s reliability has been completely lost.
During this process, I have contacted the Alfa Romeo Customer Care Center multiple times and requested either a replacement vehicle or a full refund. My initial request was denied. After submitting a second request, I have been unable to reach the representative handling my case (Mr. K****) for the past 10 days. Other representatives state they cannot access my case details and simply tell me to wait for a callback.
Additionally, I formally submitted my complaint and replacement/refund request in writing to senior executives S**** E******* and İ****** A***, yet I have received no response.
The fact that this vehicle has broken down three times due to the same issue and will remain in service for nearly two months is unacceptable in terms of both safety and customer experience. Therefore, I request an urgent replacement of my Alfa Romeo Tonale Veloce or a full refund of the purchase price. I expect this matter to be resolved quickly and permanently without further delay.
