Request for Refund of Akbank Credit Card Membership Fee
I am a customer of Akbank. On March 7, 2025, a credit card membership fee of ₺1,016.00 was charged to my Akbank Axess Gold Mc credit card ending in ****4423. I request the cancellation of this annual membership fee of ₺1,016.00 in accordance with the legal provisions below, without any additional conditions. According to the Consumer Law Article 31, Paragraph 3, dated May 28, 2014, card-issuing institutions are required to offer a credit card type to consumers without charging an annual membership fee or similar costs. Under Article 6 of the Law on Consumer Protection No. 4077, amended by Law No. 4822, the membership fee charged by your bank is considered an unfair term, as it does not correspond to any service provided and was included in the pre-prepared standard contract without negotiation. Additionally, the 13th Civil Chamber's final decision (Case No. 2011/4736, Decision No. 2011/11579) and the General Assembly of Civil Chambers' Decision (HGK 2010/1-93-88) confirm that annual card fees and retroactively charged fees must be refunded. I request the necessary action to refund the membership fees charged. If necessary, I declare that I will pursue legal action and cancel my credit card.
