Akbank Charged My Axess Business Card a Membership Fee I Want Refunded
An annual membership fee of ₺1296 was charged to the statement of my Axess Business credit card ending in **** 0529, issued by Akbank, on 13.03.2025. I am requesting a full refund of this amount. Despite contacting customer service, I have not received any resolution. I demand the cancellation of this fee without any additional conditions, as stipulated by the Consumer Protection Law. According to Article 31, Paragraph 3 of the Consumer Law dated May 28, 2014, credit card issuers must provide a card option without annual fees or similar charges. Furthermore, under Article 6 of Law No. 4077, amended by Law No. 4822, such membership fees are considered unfair terms since they are pre-drafted, non-negotiable, and not tied to a specific service. The 13th Civil Chamber ruling (2011/4736 E., 2011/11579 K.) and the Supreme Court’s General Assembly decision (2010/1-93-88) confirm the retroactive refund of such charges. I request the refund of the membership fee to my account. Otherwise, I will take legal action, cancel all my accounts and personal credit card with your bank, and file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee.
