An annual membership fee/card fee of ₺1,149.50 was charged to my Akbank Axess Platinum MasterCard ending in 2934 on 24.03.2025. I request the cancellation of this fee in accordance with the legal provisions stated below and without any additional conditions. According to the Consumer Protection Law, Article 31, Paragraph 3, dated May 28, 2014: “Card issuers are obliged to offer consumers a type of credit card that does not charge an annual membership fee or any similar cost.” Furthermore, under Article 6 of Law No. 4077, amended by Law No. 4822, regarding unfair terms in contracts, the membership fee charged by your bank is considered an unfair term, as it is not in exchange for any specific service and is included in a pre-prepared, standard contract that cannot be negotiated. According to the final ruling of the 13th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation (2011/4736 E., 2011/11579 K.) and the decision of the General Assembly of Civil Chambers (2010/1-93-88), such annual fees must also be refunded retroactively. Based on these legal grounds, I request the refund of the charged membership fee. Otherwise, I will pursue legal action, including filing a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board, and I will also close all my accounts and credit cards with your bank.
