On May 15, 2025, I booked a house, but I ended up paying for a place I couldn't even enter, and now I'm being denied a refund! Last night, I tried to rent an Airbnb. I confirmed with the host that I could pick up the key by 2:00 AM, which I agreed to. However, I ran into some issues and called them again between 3:00-3:30 AM, but they never answered their phone. This left me stranded outside. Earlier, I'd asked the host if they could leave the key under the doormat or somewhere similar for me, and they initially agreed, only to later say no and insist on an in-person handover.
Now, I've paid ₺1,350 for a place I never stayed in, and I'm a victim of this situation, especially as a student. I requested a refund from the host, but they incredibly asked why they should give me money. I asked for at least ₺1,000 back since I paid for a place I didn't use, but they refused.
My check-in time on Airbnb was 10:00 AM and check-out was 12:00 PM, but the times I discussed with the host were completely different. This entire experience has been a nightmare. Airbnb, I demand a full refund of my money! You need to hold your hosts accountable and ensure guests can access the properties they pay for. Return my ₺1,350 now!
