Airbnb Review – San Diego Rental Was Filthy and Unsafe, Host Threatening
I stayed at an Airbnb property in San Diego, California for three months, during which I was subjected to clear discrimination by the host. The accommodation did not meet basic hygiene standards — the furniture and bedding were dirty, posing health risks. The apartment was in poor condition and looked nothing like the photos on the listing. The promised amenities and conditions were misleading and did not reflect reality.
When I raised my concerns, the host refused to respond reasonably and eventually blocked all communication. Their behavior was harassing and intimidating, and there were several safety risks in the property that made me feel unsafe. Despite requesting a refund and a fair resolution, the host denied all responsibility. This experience violated guest rights, and the host also made false and damaging claims about me, harming my reputation on the platform.
I have photo and video evidence to support my claims — including proof of the unclean living conditions, mistreatment of dogs, and broken fences. I contacted Airbnb customer support multiple times, but the responses were unhelpful. I was told the host would be “warned” and that “adjustments would be made,” yet no actual disciplinary action was taken. My review was not published, while the host’s retaliatory, false review remains visible. Additionally, I was forced to stay in a room decorated with symbols tied to the host’s personal beliefs, which made me uncomfortable.
Throughout my stay, Airbnb’s cleanliness and safety commitments were violated repeatedly — not just once, but consistently during the entire stay.
I expect Airbnb to take concrete action: remove the host from the platform, issue a formal apology, delete the retaliatory review, and provide proof of disciplinary measures taken. I also request that Airbnb resolve my complaint and ensure that other guests don’t experience similar mistreatment in the future.
