Airbnb Host Charged Me for Pre-Existing Damage After My Istanbul Stay
In August 2024, I rented an apartment in a plaza in Istanbul through Airbnb. Upon arrival, I noticed a crack in the glass of the built-in oven—a problem that clearly existed before my stay. Thinking the host was already aware, I didn't report it; after all, during a short stay, I didn't want to deal with issues that weren't my fault. Plus, we chose to overlook other problems in the apartment out of goodwill. However, after our stay ended, the host filed a compensation claim against me for the damage! This is outrageous and unfair. I've repeatedly responded to Airbnb's emails to dispute the charge, but their decision hasn't changed. Now they're threatening to charge my card on a specific date. Airbnb, this is unacceptable. I demand that you rectify this situation immediately. Guests shouldn't be held accountable for pre-existing damages. Please investigate and resolve this matter promptly.
