I had a booking with Agoda that was confirmed, and the amount was deducted. However, when I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist said there was no booking under my name or booking number. I started calling Agoda, but they put me on hold for a long time, and I ran out of international calling minutes. After an hour with no resolution, they offered me a much lower-rate hotel, which I refused. I told them either to provide the same hotel or one with a similar rating. Eventually, after two and a half hours of waiting, they admitted it was a tech error and had booked me at a different hotel under the original hotel’s name. The hotel they gave me was the same low-rate hotel they had previously offered. I had no choice but to accept it, and they stopped calling or checking on me, only sending emails to cover themselves so I wouldn’t complain. They never compensated me, despite the inconvenience and the high cost of international calls. I tried explaining that the hotel I booked was much better than the one they gave me, but I got nowhere. With that said, I will never deal with or trust Agoda again.
