Acer Nitro 16 Dead Motherboard - Warranty Refusal
I purchased my Acer Nitro 16 laptop from Hepsiburada for ₺56,000 using my credit card. From the first day, the screen had dead pixels and the speakers made cracking noises. Due to exams and projects, I ignored these issues. However, while still under warranty and with one year left, the laptop suddenly shut down while sitting on my desk and never turned on again. I took it to Acer’s authorized service in Ümraniye, Istanbul. Despite being under warranty, they demanded ₺73,000 for repair. The service claimed the device was “damaged by dust,” that the fans were not working, and the motherboard was burned. That’s completely false—I used the laptop very carefully and never even opened its back cover. The fans were working perfectly; I clearly remember hearing them spinning loudly the last time I used it. The service simply sent me an IBAN number and demanded payment. Although they promised a detailed fault report, they only provided a “price offer” document that said, in one sentence, “damaged by dust.” They told me to come to Ümraniye to receive the full report, but when I went, they gave me the same document again. They wasted my time and effort for nothing. The service’s behavior was careless, unprofessional, and frankly dishonest. There was no liquid contact, no drop, no misuse—yet they still claimed it was “user fault.” They didn’t even inspect the device properly and directly demanded a huge fee for a motherboard replacement. Their only goal is to take money, not to help customers. When I told them they were acting like scammers, one employee mockingly said, “That’s right, I can’t deny it,” basically admitting it. I submitted all warranty and invoice documents completely. Customer service told me to deliver the device directly to the service since it wouldn’t turn on, offering no other solution. The product was defective from day one, but they refused to repair or replace it under warranty and asked for more than the laptop’s actual price. This is pure injustice and consumer deception. I have already filed a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee and started the legal process. I will also share this story on every platform and social media channel to warn others. I demand Acer to take responsibility and refund the full product amount for this disgraceful experience.
