After Three Wears, My Zara Shoes Falling Apart

I bought a pair of Zara shoes, and after the third time I wore them, the leather began to peel away from the edges. When I phoned the store, they told me that the shoes had been worn and could not be returned. How am I supposed to know if the shoes are defective before I put them on? Why are the shoes being sold as shoes if they can't even last three wears? I was very dissatisfied with both the quality of the shoes and the customer service I received. As a returning customer, I expect more from a company like Zara. I've spent a lot of money on their products over the years, but this experience has made me wonder if I should keep shopping there. I demand a resolution as soon as possible.
