Wizz Air Charges €65 Extra Despite Valid Baggage Allowance

January 28 10:16 PM6

On January 20, 2026, before my Madrid–Venice flight, I purchased checked baggage allowance through Wizz Air for €52. Even though my total baggage weight was within the purchased limit, I was charged an additional €65 at Madrid Airport during check-in simply because my baggage consisted of two separate pieces.

I explained to the staff that the baggage allowance I purchased was based on total weight, that my baggage was within that limit, and that Wizz Air’s own website states passengers can bring multiple pieces (up to six). Despite this, I was told that no exception could be made due to having two pieces, and that I had to pay the fee in order not to miss my flight. I will also provide receipts and screenshots from the app and my reservation as evidence.

Due to this non-transparent practice, which was not clearly communicated beforehand and contradicts the information on their own website, I have been unfairly charged. I request a refund of the €65 that I believe was wrongfully collected and ask that this policy be reviewed to prevent similar issues for other passengers.
