Telegram Account Email Changed Without Permission - Access Lost

Someone changed the email address attached to my Telegram account without my permission, and I lost access right away. I contacted assistance with the hopes of getting clear instructions, but I haven't been able to receive any meaningful help yet. I need this account to talk about critical things, and being locked out like this makes me feel nervous. I just want to get back in and protect my account again.
