Knoxville Iowa Subway Demands Over $20 for Unassembled Meatball Sub

1

I visited the Subway in Knoxville, Iowa on September 1st at around 4:00 p.m. to order a footlong meatball sandwich. I requested that the sandwich not be put together because it was for my husband’s lunch later and we did not want the bread to get soggy. The employee told me that because of this request I would be charged for a protein bowl and a separate footlong veggie sub, which would total over 20 dollars. In other words, I was being told I had to pay almost double just because the sandwich would not be assembled in the usual way. On top of that, the worker was very rude while explaining this. I found this pricing and behavior completely unacceptable and decided not to make the purchase. I have since spoken to the manager about the incident. I am asking Subway to either change this policy if it truly exists, or to check and take action against stores that overcharge customers for a simple deconstructed sandwich request. My expectation is that customers will not be penalized with double pricing for a reasonable request and that staff will be trained to treat customers respectfully. I am sharing this experience so that this branch can be reviewed and so that other customers do not face the same situation.
