I Face Citroen C4 Turbo Failure After Authorized Service Said The Problem Was Fixed
On August 4, 2026, I took my Citroen C4 Shine 1.2 PureTech to the authorized Citroen Deniz Otomotiv service center for scheduled maintenance and repeated problems involving an “engine fault” warning, cruise control becoming disabled, and the radiator fan continuing to run for approximately 10 minutes even after the vehicle was turned off.
Although the service manager instructed the staff to connect the vehicle to the diagnostic computer at no additional charge because maintenance was already being performed, the service advisor did not include my fault complaint on the official work order. Instead, the system only stated that routine maintenance would be performed. I was charged approximately $278 for the maintenance.
The official service document I received states: “The vehicle was connected to the diagnostic device, reset was performed, the problem was resolved, and if it happens again, a detailed inspection will be carried out.” In addition, the Stellantis Free Vehicle Inspection Form marked all engine-area leak and inspection items as “acceptable” or in proper condition. Instead of identifying and permanently resolving what I consider a potentially serious safety-related fault, the service center simply cleared the fault code and told me that the issue was fixed and that I could continue driving.
I trusted the authorized service and left the facility. However, approximately 30 minutes later on the highway, the same problem returned more severely, the engine warning light came on, and the safety of my family and me was put at risk.
When I returned the vehicle to the same service center the following day, the same facility that had officially documented the engine as being in acceptable condition and stated that the problem had been resolved now told me that the vehicle had a turbo failure. I was then presented with a repair estimate of approximately $1,593.
Because of what I believe was inadequate service and contradictory documentation the previous day, I have already spent my available budget at this service center and am now experiencing significant financial and personal hardship. A turbo that was reported as being in proper condition and whose related fault was supposedly resolved should not fail immediately after the maintenance process without a thorough explanation.
I have already opened a complaint case with Citroen Turkey / Stellantis. I request that this matter be resolved urgently, that the serious service failure be addressed, and that the approximately $1,593 turbo repair be completed at no cost to me as a customer satisfaction remedy.
If this issue is not resolved, I intend to apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committee using the contradictory official service documents and the videos showing the vehicle malfunctioning on the highway as supporting evidence.
