In December 2022, because everyone was saying prices would go way up in 2023, I bought a Siemens EQ500 Classic coffee machine from MediaMarkt. I chose Siemens because all of the other major appliances in my home are Siemens and I trusted the brand.
However, from the very first day I used it, the machine kept breaking. Service technicians came and went. The machine was repaired at the service center multiple times. And now it’s broken again. When I call Siemens customer service, they tell me they will open a service ticket and that someone will come out for a fee.
During the last service ordeal we asked for a replacement, but they refused, saying it had already been repaired. We bought this machine trusting the brand, hoping to enjoy great coffee at home — and now it just sits on the counter staring at us while we drink coffee we make with our $12 brewing machine.
I don’t know if Siemens acts this indifferent in its home country or in EU markets, but here it seems to have crossed the line into outright disrespect and negligence toward customers. I’ve sworn off buying Siemens again. With all the brands out there and people saying “this brand is good,” I never got to enjoy the machine I bought based on that reputation.
Around the same time, my son said, “Dad, forget Siemens — this Dutch brand is much better, let’s get that one.” He bought it, and I asked him if he had any problems with it. He said no issues at all. I wish I had bought that brand too. Sometimes it really is worth listening to your kids.
