Qatar Airways Staff's Inefficiency Caused Me to Lose Money and Time
I am a Turkish resident and my residency was in the process of renewal. Turkish immigration provides a travel document. I traveled from Istanbul to Lahore on the same document on the 1st of December. When I was leaving Lahore on 7th December, they stopped me at the counter and said they needed a payment receipt along with the document. I had that receipt in Turkey and unfortunately, I didn't have the soft copy. I talked to QA in charge and he said he would contact Turkish immigration and confirm. My flight was at 8.50 am. I waited and waited but they didn't get any reply. Finally, around 8.15 I rebooked my flight, and they said it would be a 'no show'. I kept the ticket open and the person in charge gave me his number to let me know if a reply came later on. As soon as I left the airport my friend from Turkey sent me the receipt. I rebooked the flight for the next day and it cost me $277. The next day same story, even when I was having the receipt as well. They said they would contact immigration. I waited around one hour then I asked the person in charge ( a different guy) if they had no other way of contacting Turkish immigration. I told him if I wouldn't be able to travel today I am going to sue them. They panicked. Right at that time the person in charge from the previous day also arrived and said they recieved an email from Turkish Immigration saying they should let me board and they will check my documents at Istanbul Airport. So they let me board after that without a reply from Turkish immigration. All they needed to do was to send my Turkish ID number to Istanbul immigration to clear my residency status. How can they be so irresponsible not to have a proper communication system with immigration offices? Why just email and not telephone or WhatsApp? They wasted my time and money. I missed my daughter’s birthday which was on the 7th of December and they caused me mental distress. I want a refund for my extra ticket.
