Preply Refused to Transfer or Refund My Unused Lessons After Tutor Change

Preply has been the worst experience I’ve had with an online learning platform. I initially signed up for 16 lessons with one tutor—four lessons per week—because I wanted consistency, which is crucial for improving grammar. But the tutor only had availability in the mornings and early afternoons, which clearly doesn’t work for someone with a job. Our schedules never matched, so most of my lessons went to waste. I then tried switching to another tutor and had a trial lesson with a woman I liked, even though her rate was double the price. That didn’t bother me—I had 10 unused lessons left and assumed they would transfer at least five to the new tutor. Instead, Preply gave me a list of instructions as if I could just sort it all out myself. When I asked for a refund, they first gave the impression it was possible, but later told me I couldn’t get one and should just continue with trial lessons—with all 10 lessons I already paid for. That’s ridiculous. I came here wanting structured learning, and they left me with wasted money and no real help. If your tutor is unavailable, that shouldn’t become the student’s problem. Don’t subscribe—if anything goes wrong, they’ll leave you hanging.

I scheduled two weekly lessons on Preply with a tutor named Kelly. We agreed on everything, but she never showed up to a single class—and worse, she didn’t even notify me or provide any explanation. She’s also completely inactive on the platform, so there’s no way for me to message her or understand...

Preply is not a reliable platform at all. I paid for the Trial Lesson. I chose the teacher day and time and my record was created. The preply fee appears on my card. After scheduling the lesson, I entered the lesson room and checked the camera. However, after logging out of the site, I realized that...
