How to Return or Exchange a Defective Maybelline Eyeliner?

I purchased an eyeliner from Maybelline at Watsons. When I opened and started using the product after a week, it applied very little. I went to Watsons, and they told me that the product might be defective and that I should check with customer support. The decision for an exchange/refund was made immediately after the verification. However, after 10 days, Watsons informed me that they couldn't help because a specific amount of time had passed since the purchase. Now I have a defective product in my hands, and I'm torn between lamenting the wasted money and the inability to use the product. When I contacted Maybelline customer support, they said they initiated a return request but couldn't assist further as it falls under Watsons' jurisdiction. This has been a significant disappointment for me as I encountered such an issue for the first time with this renowned brand. Who can resolve this problem? I hope a solution can be found.
