Kia Sportage 2024 Brand-New Car Failure!

On July 29, 2024, we purchased a brand-new Kia Sportage 2024. Despite having all routine maintenance performed at authorized service centers, on August 9, 2025, while driving in the left lane, the gas pedal suddenly locked, and the vehicle stopped responding to acceleration. As a result, our speed dropped abruptly, creating a serious safety risk. The technical service informed us that the engine had locked itself. However, despite the vehicle being taken to Özdemirler Kia İzmir authorized service on August 10, 2025, August 15, 2025, and August 23, 2025 for the same malfunction, the root cause has still not been identified. Moreover, the service center has not provided any documentation regarding which areas were inspected. The service representatives’ response was: “We couldn’t find anything; just continue your normal life. If it happens again, we’ll take another look.” During this process, I also contacted Kia Customer Services, but they only stated that they would “follow up on the process.” Despite being under warranty, the vehicle has been at the service center for 1.5 months and cannot be used. As a result, I have been unable to return to my residence in Istanbul. The technical service informed me that a replacement vehicle could only be provided for local city use. If I travel with my own car and experience a breakdown, they would only be able to send roadside assistance. This issue occurs randomly, and I am deeply concerned about traveling with the vehicle—especially with our infant—due to the risk of breaking down on the road or being involved in an accident. My expectation from Kia Turkey is that the cause of this dangerous malfunction in the vehicle, which is registered under my spouse’s name, be urgently identified and permanently resolved. If this is not possible, since it is clear that the vehicle cannot be safely operated, we expect a vehicle replacement or a refund in line with our legal rights. In addition, I request that our grievance and the safety risk we have faced be officially documented, that the process be handled transparently, and that we receive a written explanation.
