An Instagram Seller Account Refused Info And Canceled Order
On April 28, 2026, I placed a cheese order through a social media account presenting itself as “Ergani Peynircilik” operating on Instagram under the username @erganipeynir_. Since it was my first time purchasing from this business, I requested cash on delivery and did not make any upfront payment. After placing the order, but before receiving the product, I asked for information about storage conditions due to the nature of the item being food. I clearly stated that, under Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection, obtaining information about a product’s content, usage, and storage conditions in advance is one of the most fundamental consumer rights. However, the person I communicated with insisted that such information could only be shared after delivery and payment. When I asked why this information could not be provided beforehand and what would change after delivery, I received no satisfactory explanation. Shortly afterward, communication was abruptly cut off, the phone was hung up on me, and I was informed that my order had been unilaterally canceled. I was then completely blocked on WhatsApp, making further communication impossible. This approach by the account, which forces consumers to pay before accessing even basic product information, reflects a lack of transparency and raises serious concerns in terms of commercial ethics. Especially for a product directly related to health like food, failing to disclose storage conditions beforehand poses a significant risk. This experience has left me with serious doubts about the reliability and customer relations practices of this account, and I request that the relevant authorities review this account and its practices to prevent similar issues and ensure consumer rights are protected.
