Hyatt Regency Won't Refund an Incorrect Hotel Charge
I called Hyatt Regency Izmir to make a reservation under my name, Ömer Ş***", for January 10. During the call, I provided all of my personal information, including my credit card details, and I was clearly told that my reservation had been booked for January.
However, on December 27, I noticed an unexpected charge of $199 on my credit card from the hotel. When I contacted Hyatt Regency Izmir, I was told that their system showed a reservation for December 27 and that the charge was for that stay. I explained that my reservation was for January 10, that I never checked into the hotel on December 27, and that I did not receive any hotel services on that date. I was assured that the charge would be refunded and that there was nothing to worry about.
It has now been about a week, and no refund has appeared on my credit card. Every time I contact the hotel, I receive a different explanation, such as "we'll send it today," "it will be processed tomorrow," "it's waiting at the bank," or "it's pending signature." Despite these repeated promises, no refund has actually been processed, and I believe the matter is being unnecessarily delayed.
Charging my credit card for a stay I never used, and then repeatedly postponing the refund, has caused significant inconvenience and completely undermined my trust in the hotel.
I request the immediate and full refund of the $199 that was charged to my credit card without my authorization or any services being provided. I also request a clear written explanation regarding how this erroneous charge occurred and why my refund has been delayed.
